Neurodivergent-affirming therapy
Therapy for late-identified ADHD, AuDHD, and autistic adults in San Leandro, CA and online throughout California
You're in the right place if...
You received (or suspect) an ADHD, AuDHD, or Autism diagnosis as an adult and you're still making sense of what that means.
You've spent your whole life wondering why everything feels harder for you than it seems for everyone else.
You're exhausted - you work really hard (and can do some amazing things!) but being fueled by fear, urgency, or guilt is no longer sustainable.
You want a therapist who understands neurodivergence from the inside out - not only from a textbook.
I help adults who are just now realizing they might be autistic, ADHD, or AuDHD, understand why they've felt exhausted and overwhelmed for so long, so they can actually enjoy their life and their relationships.
Specializations
For the person who was always trying harder than anyone realized. We process the emotional weight of years of misunderstanding, identify the coping strategies that developed along the way, and build capacity to show up as the friend, professional, partner, or parent you want to be
For late-identified Autistic adults ready to understand themselves — finally. Therapy here is genuinely neurodiversity-affirming: not aimed at making you more neurotypical, but at helping you build a life that actually fits your goals, values and nervous system.
Two neurotypes, one very tired person. We explore how how different parts of you interact in your specific life. We work together to design the unique structure, supports, and path that can provide the stability and novelty that your system desires.
For teenagers who think differently, and the parents who want to support them. A collaborative, non-judgmental space to explore who they are and build real tools for navigating a world that doesn't always feel easy.

Kind words from colleagues
It's really hard to find someone who gets the grief and trauma that comes with discovering you're neurodivergent late in life. The world isn't made for you if you have ADHD or you're autistic. It can feel really overwhelming to just be a human, then add on having to relearn how to be that human in your 30s, 40s... oof. Emily is uncommon in that she gets it and knows how to help. Highly recommend working with her if you need help making sense of a new diagnosis or finding self-acceptance.
- Jessica Engle, MFT
Emily is an exceptionally gifted, trauma-informed therapist who brings a rare blend of clinical expertise and genuine human warmth to her practice. She is deeply relational, ensuring that her clients feel safe and understood from the very first session. I have the highest confidence in her work, especially for those navigating complex transitions or looking for a truly caring advocate. Emily is a vital resource for the community!

And then the day came,
when the risk
to remain tight
in a bud
was more painful
than the risk
it took
to blossom.

Many of us late-diagnosed neurodivergent folks spent a long time wondering what was wrong. Receiving (or suspecting) a late diagnosis of ADHD, autism, or AuDHD often comes with grief, relief, overwhelm, confusion, and much more.
My name is Emily, and in my role as a therapist I help ADHD, AuDHD, and autistic adults and teens deeply understand themselves and discover ways move through the world with greater ease, authenticity, and joy.
We work together as a team - you will always be the expert on yourself and your goals - and I bring extensive knowledge (clinical training & lived-experience) of neurodivergence.
I show up with genuine curiousity and provide honest and caring feedback - I won't be giving any standard checklists or basic advice that google could have delivered instantly.
You can expect our time together to feel safe, non-judgemental, engaging, and warm so that you can experience relief, hope, and growth.
I have in person sessions available for clients in the East Bay including Oakland, Hayward, Castro Valley, conveniently located at my office in San Leandro.
